Job Description: Program Assistant

Summary 

NSEA's Program Assistant will work directly as part of a team to support education, outreach, habitat and restoration monitoring programs, coordinate events, track and report program stats and assist in grant writing proposals. This position requires a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Supervised by: Program Director

Supervises: Episodic Volunteers and Interns

Full-time: non-exempt – 35 hours/week; flexible schedule, evening and weekends required

Expected Start Date: end of August 2016

Responsibilities

        I.  Support Program Director

a.      Enter, track and report all volunteer hours in QuickBooks database.

b.      Provide editing and oversight for Fish Tales articles.

c.      Assist in grant writing and reporting in support of NSEA programs.

d.      Produce Salmon Smarts e-newsletter quarterly.

e.      Support all events and outreach opportunities.

f.       Support and participate in Committees and BOD meetings.


      II.  Support Program Team

a.      Support AmeriCorps ‘Program Team,’ attending all meetings and supporting training and necessary tasks.

b.      Support/QC all four field-based programs including:

1.       Students for Salmon Program; education programs

2.      Salmon Viewing Tours; outreach programs

3.      Scientific Monitoring Programs

4.      Stream Stewards Program; community-based restoration work parties

    III.  Coordinate Nooksack River Stewards Program

a.      Recruit, train and manage volunteer interns.

b.      Provide daily supervision and support during program period.

c.      Work with area partners to produce interpretive signage.

d.      Enter, track and report all aspects of the program.

e.      Assist in grant writing/reports.
