SOUTH FORK NOOKSACK RIVER

Planting Party, partnered with Whatcom Land Trust - Riverstead

Jump in for a joint planting party with Whatcom Land Trust at Riverstead! We will be planting native trees and shrubs to improve the riparian zone to grow large trees that can one day interact with the river. Learn the story of this unique property and the growing South Fork habitat corridor, as well as about our amazing partnerships that help us with our restoration work here in Whatcom County.

Directions: Take Mt. Baker Hwy (SR 542) east past Deming. Turn right (south) on SR 9 to Acme. Park at Acme Elementary School on Turkington Road, NSEA will provide a shuttle to the site.

All ages are welcome!

Any unaccompanied volunteers under the age of 18 must bring a completed Liability Release Form to each work party.

Bring your friends, your family and your enthusiasm and we'll see you at the creek!

EQUIPMENT PROVIDED BY NSEA

We’ll bring tools, materials and gloves (we have glove sizes between XS and XL)

THINGS FOR YOU TO REMEMBER

When you arrive, check in at the blue NSEA tent. Also, for your safety and comfort, please wear: 

  • sturdy shoes to protect your toes

  • long pants that you don't mind getting dirty

  • weather appropriate clothing to stay warm and dry
